The Pursuit of Wisdom Results In Knowing God

Proverbs 2: 1-15 says:
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,  turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.  For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,  for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.  For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.  Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.  Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
Meditate on these verses to find the steps to knowing God intimately and living a successful growing life in Christ.
The steps are not hard, but they are specific requiring immersing one’s self consistently.
1. Recognize you are the child of God, born of the Spirit to become a fully mature believer. These words have your name written on them, my child, James Brewer.
2. Learn – do not just memorize for the moment, but internalize what I teach you. Employ it daily in your living until it becomes part of your nature. When you do this you will never forget what God tells you to do.
3. Listen – do not just skim or shallow listen, but focus on the words allowing them to marinade until they attach themselves to your thoughts and intents of your heart.
4. Pursue with emotional intent and intellectual honesty just as you would pursue an illusive, alluring treasure.
The result will be:
  • Knowing the fear of the Lord.
  • Success in learning about God.
  • Wisdom, knowledge, understanding, help and protection.
  • These attributes will give insight, understanding, protect you from wrong doing and association with people who love sin.
Gird up your mind, focus on God, His truths. Pursue wisdom, knowledge, understanding and insight, you will learn to fear the Lord and succeed in becoming a mature believer.
